A prayer for rain...

..And they called him Noah.

This simple.. yet Godly man.

I can almost picture him… standing back in the overwhelming heat of the afternoon … I can almost see him wipe the layer of sweat from his face… and pat his unfinished project.

..A project beginning to take shape.

I can almost hear him take a deep breath… and squint his eyes as he looked toward the heavens… to see yet another cloudless day.

He was still getting looks from neighbors… But, it wasn’t important.

“That crazy man who believes in rain…Why would he need a boat that size?”

“What kind of a God would tell him there would be a flood when the weather is perfect?”

But he had a promise…

He believed.
He was going to be taken care of.
His family was going to be spared from devastation.

He knew God would send raindrops…
When had never even seen rain.

So even without a cloud in sight…

Noah built an ark....

...and there DID come a flood.

Our town … is in serious drought.
It’s considered a state of emergency.

..and like Noah, we should be building an ark.

We need rains to come.
Our lands are dry.
Our lakes are fading away.
It’s an extremely SERIOUS situation.

Jesus said..

Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

Matthew 18:19

Many friends are taking a moment…

…we’re going to PRAY for rain.
We’re going to believe together.

Because just like it said in Matthew… I believe what Jesus said.
Regardless of our cloudless days.

Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Mark 11:24

In the summer of 1853 northern Ohio was suffering from a severe drought, the pastures were dried up, and the prospects for a crop were very slender. Under these circumstances, with a cloudless sky above them, the members of the Oberlin congregation assembled one Sunday for worship. The burden of Finney's prayer was a plea for rain: "Lord, we want rain. We do not presume to dictate unto thee, but our pastures are dry, and the earth is gaping open for rain. The cattle are wandering about and lowing in search of water. Even the little squirrels in the woods are suffering from thirst. Unless thou givest us rain, our cattle will die and our harvests will come to naught. O Lord, send us rain, and send it now! Although to us there is no sign of it, it is an easy thing for thee to do. Send it now, for Christ's sake. Amen."

The service proceeded, but before he was half through with his sermon the rain descended in such torrents that he could scarcely be heard. He paused and said: "Let us praise God for this rain," and gave out the hymn,

The congregation was so affected that many could not sing for weeping.http://www.rmww.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=88:charles-g-finney&catid=37:footprints
