For all of the dear friends who have encouraged me on this
great journey I call being a parent.
I once heard an elderly lady with many children tell me..
"Honey, children open up your heart..
you don't realize how much you can love until you have a child."
At the time I thought it so odd.
But now, I've thought back on the wisdom of her words many times.
I have dear friends that are expecting children.. and in a way I want to take them each by the hand and show them the amazing way they will feel to hold a precious miracle for the very first time.
To stand beside them for the first nights they'll lay awake listening to soft breathing and simply knowing your baby is still alive and healthy will bring more comfort than anything this world may offer...
To know that a child is the closest thing to heaven we have here on earth
Sometimes the love is so incredibly overwhelming...
All that I can do is simply utter a sob filled "Thank you Lord"
Ladies, friends... all dear readers..
As young as I am.... I've found something more valuable than riches or gold.
The prayers we offer for our children.
It's so important.
We feed them.
We dress them.
We love them unconditionally.
We cry when they cry.
But more than clothes, more than shelter...
They need prayer.
ALL of our children.
I have a 10 month old.
Who needs my prayers.. everyday.
I don't know about you...
But.. I'm not praying for Jonah be a champion baseball player..
Or to learn to read by the time he's 4..
Or be the top honor student.
But..
I do pray for his character.. daily.
I pray he'll become a good steward.. with his time, money and his words.
I pray for his faith, the decisions he'll make and I pray for his wife someday.
My friends have 16 year olds.
12 year olds...
7 year olds..
2 year olds..
No matter the age.
Our children are in need prayer.
and we, as parents, stand in the gap.
"That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world."
Philippians 2:15
Our life in front of them.
Our integrity.
Our motives... as Godly parents.
Will mold them more than any school...
or any college.
I thank our Lord Jesus for all the "praying parents" we have out there.
I believe He honors that so much.
I encourage you today..
NO matter the age of your child..
Take time to talk to the Master about them.
I cannot express the number of times in my own life..
Decisions..
Judgements..
And even finding my Salvation.
Because prayers..
change lives.
I love praying with Miah, as I'm praying he'll say, "Yeah, yeah yeah!" And at the end? I get a hearty, "Aaaaa Men!" From him! :)
ReplyDeleteMaria, thats truly adorable!
ReplyDeleteSimply beautiful...and oh so true. How in the world do we think we are strong enough to do this "parenting thing" on our own? Even so, I tend to venture out on my own sometimes without letting God in...and I seem to fail miserably. For Him to allow me this time with my precious two - is a blessing.
